PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
Friday November 22nd The Dayton Art Institute welcomes The Del McCoury Band. Even among the pantheon of music's finest artists, Del McCoury stands alone. From the nascent sound of bluegrass that charmed hardscrabble hillbilly honkytonks, rural schoolhouse stages, and the crowning glory of the Grand Ole Opry to the present-day culture-buzz of viral videos and digital streams, Del is the living link. On primetime and late-night television talk shows, there is Del. From headlining sold-out concerts to music festivals of all genres, including one carrying his namesake, there is Del.

Almost unimaginable, McCoury's sixth decade in a half-century of bluegrass bliss brings new triumphs, new collaborations, and new music. With but a single change in membership in twenty seven years The Del McCoury Band shows unprecedented stability as well as garnering the respect and admiration of the industry for its unmistakable work: nine IBMA Entertainer of the Year trophies; in 2003, Del's awarded membership in the cast of the legendary Grand Ole Opry; the band's first Best Bluegrass Album Grammy award, in '05, followed by a second Grammy win in 2014, (not to mention double-digit nominations)

PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
Have you seen "her" yet?
The Mona Lisa, by Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci, has been long-described as the most famous painting in the world. The Mona Lisa Today Focus exhibition is on view now through early January 2020. Please join the Dayton Art Institute in presenting this incredible art exhibition to our region.
While instantly recognizable today, the Mona Lisa looks considerably different than it would have when it was created in 1503. Colors have faded and details are now lost, but recent scientific studies give details into how the painting would have appeared when it was fresh from Leonardo's easel. Using extensive data conducted by a team of experts from the Louvre, Paris, and after her own research, artist Jenness Cortez was commissioned to paint a modern-day reproduction that shows the vibrant colors and fresh details of the original. This presentation of the modern reproduction of the Mona Lisa is on view to celebrate the Dayton Art Institute's Centennial as well as the 500th anniversary of Leonardo's death in 1519.
For many people, this may be the first, or only, opportunity to "see" the most famous woman in the world! We are extremely honored to present this opportunity to the community with support from friends of the museum like YOU. Join us in this effort by becoming a Friend of Mona Lisa Today supporter. With your contribution at one of the levels detailed below, and with our sincerest gratitude, we invite you to enjoy. You can donate online below or by contacting Brandy McFall, Senior Sponorship Officer, at 937-512-0139 or bmcfall@daytonart.org.

The Dayton Art Institute is committed to enriching lives and serving the community by creating meaningful experiences with art.

Founded in 1919, The Dayton Art Institute is one of the region’s premier fine arts museums. In addition to exhibiting outstanding special exhibitions and impressive collections of art from throughout the world, the museum is renowned for education programming that includes an array of offerings for diverse audiences.

The Dayton Art Institute sits atop a hill on the edge of the Great Miami River overlooking downtown Dayton. The museum’s founding patrons included prominent community leaders such as Orville Wright and the Patterson Brothers, founders of NCR. The museum’s landmark building, designed by prominent museum architect Edward B. Green of Buffalo and completed in 1930, was modeled after the Villa d’Este near Rome and the Villa Farnese at Caprarola in Italy, both examples of sixteenth century Italian Renaissance architecture.
