Guitar virtuoso Chris Duarte returns to The Marquee in Sioux City IA or Friday, April 10!

The Chris Duarte Group emerged on the scene out of Austin, Texas in the early 90's and gained notoriety after wowing a packed room of industry insiders at the South X Southwest convention. In the wake of Stevie Ray Vaughan's passing, Duarte quickly gained a National reputation as young man imbued with a playing style comparable at times to the late guitarist. After fielding interest from a number of labels, Duarte signed to Silvertone Records and his debut album "Texas Sugar/Strat Magik" reportedly sold in excess of 100,000 units in the United States, no small feat for a blues/rock guitarist. This coupled with Duarte's strong commitment to touring, was the impetus for Chris' winning the "Best New Talent" in Guitar Player's 1995 Reader's Poll. He also finished fourth in the magazine's "Best Blues Guitarist" category that year behind legends Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy and B.B. King.

Kris Lager Band returns to The Marquee in Sioux City, IA on Saturday, April 11!

A genuine musical journeyman, Kris Lager brings a feel good musical experience everywhere he goes. One of those rare and dynamic performers who deliver a combination of musical ability and charisma, Kris Lager will make you want to dance, clap, and sing along creating a fun and interactive show laced with road tested songs, and contagious grooves.

"I wanna lift up your spirits through song and dance!", Says Kris Lager. "When music is created from a place of love and delivered with good intentions it is undeniably powerful. There's nothing better than making the people around you feel good. The ultimate compliment for me is when folks come up to me at after a show and say I was having a horrible day or I was in a bad mood and now I feel great."

Based out of Omaha, Nebraska Kris Lager Band has been zig zagging the country spreading their brand of "Feel Good Funk & Heavy Soul" for over 15 years. KLB latest album already garnering rave reviews and airplay all over the world is called 'Love Songs & Life Lines'. It was recorded at White Wall Studios earlier this year in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and mixed by Grammy Award Winning Producer, Jim Gaines (Santana, Van Morrison, Steve Miller, Stevie Ray Vaughan). The album is a collection of love songs, and various heart tugging tunes featuring a more acoustic and Folksy/Americana side of Kris' songwriting. The recording is a slight departure from their 'Swaggering Rock 'n' Roll' and Blues infused electric guitar grooves that make up a lot their 2016 release 'Rise & Shine'.

Kris Lager Band is quietly establishing themselves as one of the most storied and treasured groups in the Midwest's music scene. They honed their skills for many years in and around Nebraska when in 2007 they were invited to hit the road as indigenous. They backed up frontman and guitar hero, Mato Nanji for over two years and were featured on Indigenous' Jamie Candiliro Produced (Ryan Adams, Willie Nelson) Vanguard Records release 'Broken Lands'. You might also recognize Kris Lager from working and touring alongside Andy Frasco & The U.N. The group covered 3 of Kris' songs on their 2014 release 'Half A Man' and have made 'Sunny Day Souldier' a staple at their live shows. This year they also featured the composition on their Ruf Records released live album, 'Songs From The Road'.

The Legendary Bluesman, Tab Benoit is also a fan. Proclaiming "These guys are the real deal! Go see them whenever they come to your town!" He produced and recorded KLB's 2013 release 'Platte River Runaway' at his home studio in Houma, Louisiana. Soon after they worked with Tab Benoit they went to San Francisco and recorded with Bay area funk maestros, Monophonics at their Transistor Studios. The result was 2014's 'Heavy Soul & Boogie Trance' mixed by Orgone's Sergio Rios. The release caught the attention of Ohio's Colemine Records, who released two of the tracks as a 45 and also featured the release on their internationally distributed Soul Slabs LP.

Appearing live at The Marquee on Thursday, April 30 - SHFB Is a 12 member live band, a burlesque troupe, and a circus act that is all together too contemporary, too modern, too bawdy, and too controversial to be defined just as "burlesque". For 10 years it has been traveling the nation in its big red school bus, performing what can best be described as performance art and musical theater bridged with burlesque. Reminisce of the early stage productions of Rocky Horror and Hedwig and the Angry Inch; this rock and roll circus/burlesque/comedy/DIY punk theater monstrosity must be seen to be believed. And this is your last chance to see it
___________________________________________________________________
Formed in 2004 by Rachel Finan and Corey Ruffin out of the ashes of a weekly poetry night at a Grand Rapids (Michigan) homeless shelter/coffee house where punks and art students would warble homemade tunes and recite monologues for a dazed crowd of tweakers, addicts, and people just trying to get out of the cold; SHFB grew into a monthly theatrical production and local hit. 5 years of avant garde burlesque and theater in a
small midwestern and conservative community resulted in numerous police raids on their shows, vandalized homes and theaters from unruly small town locals who thought burlesque was live sex with caged animals, and more. In 2010 they decided to take the show national. After a successful $20,000 kickstarter campaign they bought a school bus, converted it into a circus-mobile, and began playing coast to coast. Their particular brand of irreverent, sexy, and catchy musical theater is designed to find your line and butt right up against it. From March through May of 2020 they will be bringing their epic
production, "Betsy DeVos, the Musical" to venues all over the nation. Infamous in Grand Rapids, President Trump's much maligned secretary of education has provided the perfect character to lead SHFB's musical dedicated to love of money, grizzly bears raiding public schools, a divided nation during an election year, and heinous war crimes set to some of the catchiest music you'll ever hear. After 15 years of SHFB, and 10 of touring nationally, it is time to lay this beast to rest. In April of 2020 they take SHFB out one last time for their farewell tour, will you miss it or will you be one of the privileged to say that they were there?!
