Nashville singer/songwriter and Louisville native returns home for the night to celebrate the release of his debut album.

ABOUT SAM VARGA:
Coming from the fast paced punk scenes of his high school days to the Blues of Austin TX, Sam always felt most at home writing honest songs on an acoustic guitar. Now he's chasing something sonically along the lines of a "punk Jackson Browne." His first single Sex & Whiskey is a high energy road-trip anthem and his first dip into solo artist "thing". The Kentucky native now calls Nashville home after planting some serious roots in a short amount of time and has plans to release more music this year.

Irreplaceable chemistry transpires between four musicians. The tried-and-true configuration of a four-piece rock band unlocks an endless array of possibilities. Nashville-based Betcha not only recognizes such limitlessness, but they also leverage it. Ultimately, the quartet-Charlie Greene [vocals, guitar], Ben Booth [lead guitar], Taylor Dubray [bass, keys], and Chase Wofford [drums]-breathe new life into this traditional ideal. On their 2019 debut for Atlantic Records, expansive vibes encompass sweetly stoned rock, electronic-backed alternative, and punchy pop anthems, evoking the power of four.

District 97 2020 US Screening Tour w/Special Guests Grackle

Description: District 97 is undoubtedly the most musically-adventurous rock band in the world to feature an American Idol Top 10 Female Finalist. Since 2008, this quintet from Chicago has melded an adventurous, uncompromising instrumental prowess with the look, sound, and stage presence of vocalist Leslie Hunt. Through world tours and a stream of studio and live releases, the band has garnered a worldwide fanbase; collaborating with iconic singer/bassist John Wetton (King Crimson, Asia, UK) and drawing praise from Bill Bruford (drummer of Yes/King Crimson/Genesis), Mike Portnoy (drummer of Dream Theater/Transatlantic) and other rock luminaries along the way. District 97 rehearses doggedly to refine their compositions, ensemble-playing, and stage presentation; their standards for excellence have only grown more rigorous with the passage of time. Their new fourth studio album Screens and its accompanying live show are their most ambitious efforts to date.

"Grackle" is an original 6-piece band based out of Louisville, Kentucky. Formed in 2015, they released their 10-song debut album, Wintergarden in 2016 and sophomore effort, The Quiet Noise, in 2018 (Available through all major digital media outlets - e.g., iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody). The band is comprised of Steve Katsikas (vocals, keyboards), Jeff Gard (Drums), Rob Payne (Bass), Myra Kean (violin, saxophone and flute), Travis Carlisle (Cello) and Joanna Katsikas (vocals). The band creates a style of music that is somewhat outside the mainstream (though might be described as "piano-driven indie rock"). Accessible melodies are couched in keyboard-driven compositions that twist-and-turn through dense arrangements and atmospheric interludes. The band is "proudly guitarless" and integrates cello, violin, saxophone and flute into their arrangements. The band has performed regularly since 2015, including shows in Louisville, Chicago, and Cincinnati. The band was formed by Katsikas and Gard, who had played together in the avant-garde jazz rock band, French TV, and were looking to collaborate on a series of compositions that were more singer-songwriter driven. The band performs in a full "electric" format or can scale back into a smaller "acoustic ensemble".

(*exact times subject to change)

Front Country is a band on the precipice of a metamorphosis. As multi-instrumentalists, songwriters and composers, the instrumentation and setting have always been secondary to the musical vision that comes through no matter what stage they take. For a band with a genre in their name, genre has always been elusive for Front Country, as they refuse to pick sides or be constrained by any expectations outside their own singular aesthetic. From their beginnings in the SF Bay Area to their new hometown of Nashville, TN, Melody Walker, Adam Roszkiewicz and Jacob Groopman have been on a journey to discover a sound. While making their third album - their first in Music City - they feel closer than ever to what fans have heard in them all along. SLC Weekly called it "Rugged Americana and Purposeful Pop", and that seems as close as anything to describe the Front Country sound. To them, their namesake is about pushing the envelope, but never losing sight of their roots.

Relic - Kentucky Bluegrass at its finest. Louisville, Ky, is a city that bears a rich history of honoring the roots of traditional music while stretching boundaries and embracing progress. Relic is part of a revival of this platform, blending rich vocal harmonies with colorful instrumentation. The core of the group includes twin brothers Aaron Bibelhauser (on banjo) and Adam Bibelhauser (on bass), guitarist Chuck Sharp, mandolinist Dave Howard and Tavis Conley on drums. Aaron, the primary songwriter of the group has written songs recorded by award winning bluegrass artists including Del McCoury Band, Balsam Range, Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, Dale Ann Bradley, and The Wooks. He also took first place in the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at Merlefest and earned a nomination for the IBMA's prestigious Song Of The Year Award.

BIO:
How do you feel when someone starts playing on their phone while you're talking to them? It's a dark moment. It's a seemingly small, yet significant moment when we realize we've got work to do as both individuals, and as a species.

BRETT NEWSKI's fourth studio album Don't Let the Bastards Get you Down is a call to arms against whatever destructive forces we may find ourselves battling, from our individual struggles with toxic relationships, low self esteem, loneliness, and apathy to the more global challenges facing us in 2020: The erosion of face-to-face human connection, the breakdown of the proverbial village, the destruction of the planet, and the myriad ways in which our social media addictions amplify these problems. Depression and anxiety are at all time highs, with many, if not most of us, struggling to preserve our optimism.

So how do we regain control and stay hopeful in the face of these challenges? Perhaps it's less screen time. Perhaps it's changing the way we approach our tiny pocket TVs. Perhaps it's discovering or recommitting to our passions. Perhaps it's getting our hands dirty in pursuit of real solutions to our problems (instead of just complaining online). Perhaps Don't Let the Bastards Get You Down can shed some positive insight.

In Last Dance (cowritten with Grammy nominated songwriter Pat Macdonald, 'Future's So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades'), Newski lays bare the highly relatable challenge of trying to stay informed and engaged while simultaneously staying afloat psychologically: "I ain't trying to build the ark, I just really wanna learn how to swim / Thru a sea of plastic bottles, all the refuse, the mess we are in." In Grow Your Garden, Newski issues a wake-up call from the hypnotic, numbing effects of living with our eyes glued to our screens: "If I was the dirt beneath the sneakers on your soulless feet / I'd nudge you far from the mirage so you could see the water".

In Lousy T-Shirt, Newski describes the traps of social comparison in these "tiny TV times", in which we so often compare ourselves to the "greatest hits" of others' lives. ("I ain't making any headlines / It's a failures parade / I drove all the way to Hollywood and all I got's this lousy t-shirt.") He doubles down on this theme in Buy Me a Soul, singing "Step out from behind these little screens that rule our lives / I'm sick of highlights / Cause we're an empty shell and we're on earth but we're in hell / Can anybody hear me? / Is this a permanent bad dream? Or is it too much reality?"

What could topically threaten to amount to "too much reality" for the listener is buoyed by Newski and collaborator Spatola's signature blend of largely up-tempo, guitar-driven alternative with splashes of what they describe as "Geek Rock", "Happy Punk", and "Diet Grunge". The band has had a busy few years, playing alongside acts like PIXIES, Courtney Barnett, Violent Femmes, Better than Ezra and Manchester Orchestra, and will be touring extensively in 2020 in support of this latest release.

Nashville Americana/Roots artists Will Payne Harrison and Veronica Stanton present their Spring Tour.

About Willam Payne Harrison

Everyone knows that Louisiana is a great melting pot of music, food and Southern culture. Will Payne Harrison simmered in that pot for most of his life, soaking in influences of Traditional Cajun, Louisiana Blues, Swamp Pop, New Orleans Brass Bands and Zydeco. Even after departing Louisiana for Nashville to start his own solo career, he has kept in touch with his Louisiana Roots making his own unique blend of Americana and Roots music. On East Nashville Blues, Will Payne Harrison dove deeper into Bluegrass, Country and Singer-Songwriter genres, using a cast of top-notch Nashville musicians. With his newest album, Living With Ghosts, Harrison went back to his roots, bringing in the Crème de la crème of Louisiana musicians featuring The Rayo Brothers members (Jesse Reaux, Lance Kelehan and Jordan Ardoin) along with lead guitarist Jim McGee and even some harmonica from Fawn Larson. Slated to be out in late Summer/early Fall, Living With Ghosts will encompass the perfect blend of Will Payne Harrison's Louisiana/Nashville sound.

About Veronica Stanton

The phrase "comes by it honestly" often refers to a trait or habit passed down to a person by the elders of their family; a like or a dislike, a knack for cooking or a sense of humor. In Veronica Stanton's case, it brings to mind her gift of song and language of music which are as much a part of her being as walking and talking. Born the youngest of nine children in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, Veronica was encouraged by her parents to play music at a young age as a means of connecting with her family. In a home which fostered the love of music, the Stanton children passed their time away playing traditional Irish and folk tunes. Veronica chose the fiddle and played in the Stanton family band, occasionally performing at local events, though primarily playing with her siblings at home. In high school she found the strength of her voice in musical theatre, and began making up songs in collaboration with her siblings. It was in college, however, with the onset of independence and first experiences of young adulthood, that she turned to her familiar language of songwriting as a means to process life, this time all on her own.

She began sharing her songs with friends and sisters, and found that they were meaningful to others, not just herself. "I knew in my heart that I wanted to try to pursue music, so a year after I graduated I came down [to Nashville] because, you know, now's the time". Though at first shy to tell friends the extent of her dreams, Veronica boldly immersed herself in a scene of songwriters upon moving to Nashville in October 2016. She performed in countless writers' rounds in town, and responded to an ad to begin vocal lessons with local musician, Erin Rae.

Hailing from Louisville, KY, it was always Ben's dream to combine his love for classical music with pop music, so while at college he formed the piano pop trio Jukebox The Ghost. Since their inception, Jukebox has released five studio albums, one live album, and performed over a thousand shows globally, including festivals like Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza and TV appearances such as 'Conan' and 'Late Show with David Letterman'.

As a solo artist Thornewill released an album of all classical improvisations in 2017 and has recently turned his creative attention to a new project. Using his prodigious classical piano abilities and unique songwriting style he has created an album that fits in the great tradition of Billy Joel, Regina Spektor and Rufus Wainwright.

"Songbirds" is the first release of this new batch of songs. Thornewill puts his piano and voice front and center and uses electronic and orchestral elements to give the production depth and excitement.
