KARATE
Boston, MA

Established in 1993, Boston’s Karate released six albums and played nearly 700 shows in 20 countries during their 12-year run.
Geoff Farina, Gavin McCarthy, Eamonn Vitt, and later, Jeff Goddard decelerated and deconstructed their post-punk influences for their first three full-lengths, and merged the results with post-war jazz, blues, and other disparate influences for their genre-bending Unsolved, Some Boots, and Pockets albums.
In 2021 Karate partnered with The Numero Group to deliver physical and digital releases of their long out-of-print catalog.
In July of 2022, Karate will meet again on stage for the first time in 17 years.

The Linda Lindas + Bacchae
7:30pm - $18 adv / $20 dos - All Ages
THE LINDA LINDAS
Los Angeles, CA
https://thelindalindas.bandcamp.com/
The Linda Lindas first played together as members of a pickup new wave cover band of kids assembled by Kristin Kontrol (Dum Dum Girls) for Girlschool LA in 2018 and then formed their own garage punk group just for fun. Sisters Mila de la Garza (drummer, now 11) and Lucia de la Garza (guitar, 14), cousin Eloise Wong (bass, 13), and family friend Bela Salazar (guitar, 17) developed their chops as regulars at all-ages matinees in Chinatown, where they played with original L.A. punks like The Dils, Phranc, and Alley Cats; went on to open for riot grrrl legends Bikini Kill and architect Alice Bag as well as DIY heavyweights Best Coast and Bleached; and were eventually featured in Amy Poehler’s movie Moxie.
When the pandemic put a pause on shows, The Linda Lindas went on to self-release a four-song EP, make their own videos (including a get-out-the-vote effort with friends such as Tony Reflex from Adolescents, Adam Pfahler from Jawbreaker, Tae Won Yu from Kicking Giant, Allison Wolfe, Lois Maffeo, Money Mark, and Mike Watt), and grow a following beyond Los Angeles. But they never expected or could have even dreamed that their performance of “Racist, Sexist Boy” for the Los Angeles Public Library in May 2021 would take them from punk shows to TV shows.

BRONCHO + Tchochke
8:00 - $20 - All Ages
BRONCHO
Tulsa, OK
https://broncho.bandcamp.com/
BRONCHO return to the road for the first time in three years with the I KNOW YOU TOUR 2022 where the Oklahoma band - Ryan Lindsey, Penny Pitchlynn, Nathan Price and Ben King - will be performing songs from their landmark first four albums; the catchy, playful vibe of Can’t Get Past the Lips (2011) and Just Enough Hip to Be Woman (2014) as well as the deliberate sonic intent of 2016’s sludgy, moodier art piece Double Vanity and of course, and perhaps the most critically-acclaimed album in the quartet's decade-long career, Bad Behavior (2018); with its fan faves and urgent, bonafide pop songs, “Sandman,” “Boys Got to Go,” “Get in My Car” and “Keep it in Line." Broncho crafts sing-along anthems that combine punk and garage-rock. You could make all the likely comparisons to punk bands of the '70s — Ramones, Iggy Pop and The Stooges — or even bring up the new-school garage-rock undertones of The Strokes and The Strange Boys. But that would sell the band short. If anything, it combines the best elements of both genres: raw guitar chords and energy, plus DIY sentiment, but with hi-fi production. Their pop sensibilities create a world where T. Rex, Tom Petty and The Cars collide.

VHS Collection
8:00pm - $22 Advance / $25 Day of Show - All Ages
VHS COLLECTION
New York, NY
https://vhscollection.bandcamp.com/
The three friends at the heart of VHS Collection—James Bohannon, Conor Cook, and Nils Vanderlip (multi-instrumentalist and producer)—grew up together in New York City and formed the band in 2015 as a side project while working other jobs, merging modern and nostalgic aesthetics to create their now-signature heart-pumping, arena-ready synth rock and alt-pop. Going it alone as an independent trio meant more work, but it paid off: certified hits “Waiting For The Summer” and “So I Met Someone” off their 2016 record Stereo Hype racked up millions of listens and earned the band spots at festivals including Governor’s Ball, Lollapalooza, and Austin City Limits.
Night Drive, the upcoming LP from New York trio VHS Collection, captures the spirit of that titular activity: its liminality, its kinetic excitement, its intoxicating potential and power, its hope and mystery. Each of the record’s 10 tracks do this in their own way—sometimes loud and brash, sometimes quiet and calm. But the feeling is just as visceral and real, as serious and limitless as four tires streaking across concrete under the hum of streetlights. In a time of perpetual uncertainty and disconnection, Night Drive is a return to one of the simple, critical pieces of our lived experience via driving drums, stratospheric synths, soaring vocals, and anthemic choruses built to sprint through the night sky.
